Celebrate Drawing with the RWA’s ‘Drawn’ and ‘Lines in a Landscape’ Exhibitions

Don't miss these three unique exhibitions with over 200 artworks celebrating the art of drawing at RWA Bristol.

1 April 2017 - 4 June 2017

The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol presents three unique exhibitions which contain over 200 artworks celebrating the art of drawing with an eclectic mix of styles ranging from contemporary work to historically significant drawings on loan from The Royal Collection. Drawn 2017 is a drawing biennale which aims to expand the art of drawing and encourages submissions to be as original as possible. Selected pieces include crafts, sculpture and prints, as well as work by renowned artist Norman Ackroyd RA who is this years Invited Artist.

Lines in a Landscape is a new exhibition of landscape drawings, selected from the world-class collection of drawings and watercolours in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle and generously lent by Her Majesty The Queen. This exhibition features works by some of the masters of Western European drawing – including Van Dyck, Canaletto, Gainsborough, and eight works by Claude Lorrain, arguably the greatest landscape artist of the seventeenth century!

Drawn 2017, Lines in a Landscape: Drawings from The Royal Collection and Beyond the Sketchbook: Drawings from the RWA Collection are all open to the public from 1 April to 4 June 2017. Admission to all three exhibitions is £6.95 (which includes a 70p donation): for more information visit the RWA website.
