London International A Cappella Choral Competition

London International A Cappella Choral Competition

16 Choirs from 11 Countries competing A Cappella

25 June 2017 - 1 July 2017 | Visit website

Taking place in the magnificent baroque masterpiece of St. John’s Smith Square – tucked away in Westminster just off Millbank – this A Cappella (unaccompanied) choir competition brings 16 choirs from 11 countries together in a series of four heats from 26-30 June. Each winner then competes in the grand final on 1 July.

Alongside the competition is an opening ceremony encompassing each choir, and celebrating the work of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, whose choral minimalism has a meditative beauty and self-confessed “love for every note”. There is also a series of lunchtime concerts at various churches throughout the week, an exhibition of photography and a film screening on Arvo Pärt, and a special Friday night concert.

A Competition Pass is £45, with the heats priced at £10 each and the final at £15. Lunchtime concerts are free, whilst the accompanying events are ticketed.

The London International A Cappella Choral Competition takes place at St John’s Smith Square, Westminster and various other locations, from June 25 till July 1.
