A fond farewell to the old Bush Theatre

19 September 2011 Anita Mistry

Discover behind the scenes of the Bush before the new season opens at their new location

The Bush Theatre is moving. And to celebrate/commiserate, their last show this is where we got to when you came in is a chance to explore this much loved fringe theatre.

non zero one are a group of six performance artists who make interactive performances using familiar technologies, exploring the relationship between participant and performer. They have collaborated with playwright Elinor Cook (whose work has appeared at Latitude Festival, Trafalgar Studios and the Arcola Theatre) to create a fond farewell performance for the Bush.

The piece will allow the audience to discover the unseen side of the theatre, backstage where performers have prepared for shows, to discover for the last time or encounter for the first time the history of the Bush through this collaborative journey.

Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre Josie Rourke said today, “As we move into the Bush's glorious new home, we wanted to take a moment to mark our departure from the old space. this is where we got to when you came in will give audiences a chance to explore the tiny and quirky backstage spaces of the old building, and relive some moments of Bush history. We're thrilled to be working with non zero one. It feels right that the Bush, which is dedicated to seeking out the best new voices, should ask one of our most innovative and exciting new companies to create this piece. ”

So what will you remember? What will you take away or leave behind? After 40 years, this special space will be closing it’s doors, so catch it while you can.

The Bush has moved to it’s new location on Uxbridge Road. See here for venue details.
