Shrek, Princess Fiona, and everyone’s favourite Donkey come to life in Southbank’s Shrek’s Adventure!

31 August 2016

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, London Calling enlisted the help of two youngsters, 10-year-old Molly and 12-year-old Lois, to check out what all the fuss was about on London’s Southbank where the eagerly anticipated Shrek’s Adventure is taking place.

Participants are whisked away on a magical fairy tale adventure in this 4D, immersive attraction where character actors ensure visitors feel like they are truly taking part in this exciting storytelling adventure. Shrek’s Adventure is pioneering the way forward in children’s entertainment by combining live actors, new Dreamworks animation, cutting edge 3D projections incredibly detailed models, and a mirror maze. Children are invited to dive into this all-immersive experience where they can interact with all their favourite characters from the films including Princess Fiona and Donkey.

We sat down with Molly and Lois after a fun-filled day to hear their thoughts about this exciting new attraction.

LondonCalling: So, Molly and Lois, what was your favourite part of Shrek’s Adventure?

Molly: I enjoyed it when we had the bus ride at the start. It was good because it had all the characters on screen and it was like being in a 3D cinema.

Lois: Yeah, I thought I was going to be sick because it was really realistic and I got splashed with water when we flew over the river and were being chased by the witches!

LC: Sounds like a lot of fun! What was special about this attraction?

M: I loved how they used all the different characters and how they spoke to you.

L: My favourite character was Cinderella, she was really funny. She wasn’t the normal Cinderella though, she was the crazy one. And she made you go in the toilet and go through Shrek’s poo to find some gold!

LC: Yes, thank you Cinderella! Is there anything else like this that you have been to?

M: It’s almost like being at the [DreamWorks] studios of the actual thing. I went to the Harry Potter studios before, but I think this is better because the characters are there.

At the end of the adventure, in the Arrivals Hall, guests finally get to meet Shrek himself! Visitors are then encouraged to explore the hall and meet even more of the DreamWorks characters and their friends. Lois and Molly did and, as you can see, they couldn’t be happier.
