 Alternative Miss World

What to expect: an evening of beauty, glamour & grace

Following a 5-year break, Andrew Logan’s legendary Alternative Miss World competition returns to London this week! Hosted at Shakespeare’s Globe, audiences will watch contestants follow the tradition sections of daywear, swimwear, eveningwear and the all important personality interview. Logan’s has chosen ‘Numbers’ for this year’s theme... Get your calculators at the ready! This is a competition where the ordinary become extraordinary and with no rehearsals, anything could happen!

Alternative Miss World will take pace at Shakespeare’s Globe on 18th October from 7pm. Tickets cost £15 - £40, available here.

 

 Frieze Masters

What to expect: historical art in a contemporary context

Calling all art lovers, Frieze Masters opens in London this week! Offering a contemporary lens on historical art, this unrivalled fair features over 120 of the world’s leading contemporary galleries, showcasing art from the ancient era to the Old Masters and the late 20th century. Highlights include important works by Pablo Picasso, Peter Paul Rubens, Edgar Degas and Cindy Sherman. The fair will also host a programme of specially commissioned talks by contemporary artists who will discuss the historical works that inspire them. This is most definitely one for the cultural calendar!

Frieze Masters will take place in Regent’s Park from 15th – 19th October. Tickets from £33, available here.

 

 Steen Raskopoulos

What to expect: award-winning comedy

One of the most exciting emerging stars of Australian comedy returns to the London stage this week! Following a run of sold out shows, Steen Raskopoulos invites audiences to the Soho Theatre to see his latest comedy instalment I’m Wearing Two Suits Because I Mean Business. This four-night comedy extravaganza promises physical comedy, elaborate characters and bucket loads of awesomeness! Comedy superstar Steen has been writing and performing sketch comedy for seven years, so you will be in safe hands... sort of.

Steen Raskopoulos: I’m Wearing Two Suits Because I Mean Business is on at the Soho Theatre from 14th -18th October. Tickets cost £12.50 - £15, available here.

 

 Live Junction

What to expect: a daring combination of music

This weekend sees the return of Live Junction at Cecil Sharp House! Presenting a fantastic mix of jazz and classical music alongside world, folk and pop, audiences will see some of the most accomplished and authentic musicians take to the stage. With a particular emphasis on English folk, special guest Sam Lee will perform his traditional songs alongside the Cecil Sharp House Choir. Other highlights include performances from Violinist and singer Alice Zawadski and the amazing Shirley Smart. Don’t miss your chance to spend an evening listening to mesmerising music!

Live Junction will take place at Cecil Sharp House on 18th October from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12, available here. 

 

 The Chocolate Show

What to expect: one big sugar high

This week, Olympia will become the Mecca for chocoholics across the capital! Returning to London for three delicious days, the world’s largest chocolate show invites visitors to indulge their sweet tooth. Celebrating the best UK and international chocolate companies, the show will feature demonstrations, talks and plenty of hands-on workshops. Also returning to this choctastic event is the mouth-watering fashion show with stunning couture outfits, made entirely from chocolate! This show never ceases to amaze and delight so make you get involved!

The Chocolate Show is on at Olympia from 17th – 19th October. Tickets cost £8 - £15, available here.
