This Week 16th – 22nd March

16 March 2015 Laura Stevens

London Calling this week looks across the capital to find new writing in Battersea, movies under the stars and indulgence off Oxford Circus. So whatever your tastes you're sure to find something to do!

Wink
What to expect:
New writing exploring the murky world of online identities

WINK will make you think twice before turning on your computer. Examining the twisted world of technology today and the ability to create duplicitous online profiles, the show uses music and movement to convey their exploration. Directed by Jamie Jackson and written by Phoebe Eclair-Powell it follows the lives of two men who confront their feelings of dissatisfaction and isolation.

Wink is at Theatre503, Battersea Park Road 10 March – 4 April.

Comic Strip Club
What to expect: No nudity

Comic Strip Club does what it says on the tin – for those without dirty minds that is – it teaches you how to draw a comic strip! Taking place at Drink, Shop & Do in Kings Cross you can enjoy an evening of creativity, cocktails and comic joyfulness. And, of course some top innuendos.

Comic Strip Club is at Drink, Shop & Do on 17 March.

Backyard Cinema
What to expect: Boyhood under the stars

Backyard Cinema are ushering in Awards Season in their own special way by handpicking some of their favourite movies from the past year to share with you. Head upwards to the 29th floor where you will find a red carpet, champagne, cocktails and food before settling down to watch the lauded Boyhood. Excitingly Backyard Cinema have also joined forces with Bacardi to create glamorous Hollywood cocktails.

Boyhood is being screened at Altitude London, Millbank Tower on 20 March.

Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea
What to expect:
Tea and cakes down the rabbit hole

Get away from the crowds and mayhem on Oxford Street and enter the surrealism of The Sanderson Hotel. The guests will receive a menu hidden inside a vintage book, and linen napkins wrapped with a riddle. To fully enter Lewis Carroll’s world all the crockery is bespoke, crazy flavours such as strawberries and cream marshmallow mushrooms and fabulous cocktails.

Afternoon Tea is served everyday at Sanderson Hotel. For more details click here.
