 Swedish Christmas

What to expect: a Scandi-chic Christmas experience

Kick-start the festivities this week and venture to the UK’s first pop-up Swedish Christmas restaurant and bar! Setting up a world of Swedish seasonal surprises, Skandilicious invites Londoners to embark on a journey for the senses with an array of delicious culinary delights to sample from an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord- think pickled herring, meatballs and ginger snaps! Guests can also join in with traditional songs and enjoy the candlelit Scandinavian-style setting whilst sipping on post dinner cocktails. So what are you waiting for, Smaklig maltid!

Swedish Christmas is running from 14th November – 21st December at Theatre delicatessen in Farringdon. Tickets cost £48.33, available here.

 

Taste of London Winter

What to expect: 4 days of festive eating, drinking & entertainment

This week, Taste of London Winter returns to Tobacco Dock with a wintery feast for the senses! Visitors are invited to taste spectacular dishes from London’s premier restaurants and see top chefs including Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux Jr put their own unique twist on winter classics in a series of live demos. There will also be interactive master classes and plenty of cheese, wine and chocolate on offer at the markets! Building on the huge success of last year, this year’s festival promises culinary wonders and seasonal foodie delightsthat will tantalize your taste buds to no end!

 Late London: Sherlock’s City

What to expect: clues, comedy and cocktails

Don’t miss the Museum of London’s unmissable London Lates event this week! Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the capital’s iconic detective, Sherlock Holmes and explore the habits and pursuits of this most enigmatic sleuth. Guests can take a walk through the maze of memories inspired by Mr Holmes, learn the art of self-defence with jujitsu expert James Garvey and watch the comedy improve guys, Shoot From The Hip, perform witty new Sherlock sketches. Oh and in case you were wondering there will of course be a bar... enough said.

Late London: Sherlock’s City is on at the Museum of London on 21st November from 7pm – 10pm. Tickets cost £10 - £18, available here.

 

 SACRED

What to expect: new work from interdisciplinary artists... whatever that means

This week, Chelsea Theatre kick-starts the 7th SACRED season of live art and contemporary performance! In this year’s festival, artists explore everything from taboos and assumptions about gender to consumption, compulsion and mental health. Highlights include the award-winning Sh!t Theatre and a children’s drag show from Irish company Super Paua. There will also be exciting work from the inimitable David Hoyle and by popular demand, Stacey Makishi. With a power-packed programme of performances, audiences will be spoilt for choice, so make sure you don’t miss out!

 Mimetic Festival 2014

What to expect: wry, pitch-black humour

Now entering its third year, Mimetic Festival 2014 comes to the dark tunnels of The Vaults this week! Presenting a jam-packed programme of unmissable performances, this festival will play host to some of the most exciting international companies working in cutting-edge theatre and cabaret. Festival highlights include: work-in-progress from two award-winning puppet companies, performances from fringe favourites Antler Theatre, and mesmerising magic from Neil Henry in the cabaret room. There will also be a late-night bar on site to keep the drinks and entertainment flowing! Full of fun and laughter this is one for calendar!
