There really is something for everyone, so why not check out London Calling’s Top 5 picks and wrap up your Christmas shopping with bags of yuletide cheer!

Christmas Market at Tate Modern

The charming wooden chalets of the Xmas Market return to London with stockings full of festive food, drink, gifts and treats to enthral visitors this winter! Setting up in a new location outside Tate Modern, this magical market offers a wide range of unique hand-crafted gifts and unusual presents, from wooden-toys and one-of-a-kind jewellery to handmade soaps, intricate decorations and plenty more! As well as shopping, visitors can enjoy the wonderful Christmassy atmosphere whilst sipping on warming “Glühwein” (German mulled wine), tucking into a German Bratwurst or indulging in some roasted nuts and gingerbread hearts! Adding some extra festive cheer (and extra shopping opportunities) to the Bankside area, this is the perfect place to stock up on gifts and if you fancy it, see some amazing art at the same time!

More London Christmas Market

For an alternative shopping destination this Christmas, head to the Riverside for the More London Christmas Market! Boasting a winning combination of homemade gifts and delicious food, this annual market will feature many local businesses with 35 chalet-style stalls for visitors to browse. Shoppers can get their mitts on some gorgeous handmade crafts, from pottery, toys and jewellery to designer socks, scarves and a variety of cheeses, chocolates and chutneys! To prevent shoppers from munching on their edible gift purchases, there will be a fantastic food to go area serving up British sausages, crepes and even a hog roast! Adding to the festive spirit, visitors can also enjoy the sweet sound of local choirs who will be filling the market with Christmas cheer!

Hackney Flea-Mas Market

If socks and scarves aren’t your thing, then head down to Stoke Newington’s Church Street and stock up on quirky goodies and gifts at the Hackney Flea-Mas market. Over four festive days, the market will see over 50 handpicked stalls selling an amazing mix of salvaged, one-of-a-kind, lost and fond objects, so this really is the ideal shopping spot to buy for the girl or guy who has everything! From vintage clothes, furniture, records and jet set junk to handcrafted jewellery, curiosities and collectables, honky tonk textiles and Danish décor, dig deep and you are sure to find the perfect gifts! To make the rummaging that little bit merrier, there will also be carol singing, Christmas music and a café selling tasty homemade delicacies.

Barbican Christmas Market

For a second year running, the Barbican will host a 10-day seasonal shopping extravaganza, with 35 of London’s finest designers, makers and artisans setting up shop in the foyers. Showcasing a treasure trove of unique products, this is a great place to pick up stylish gifts for friends and family! From quality vintage and designer clothes and jewellery to arts and crafts, books and toys, shoppers will be spoilt for choice! As is requisite for a festive market, there will of course be ample amounts of hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies on offer to keep shoppers feeling energised!

Real Food Christmas Market

Set in the courtyard directly behind the Royal Festival Hall, this year’s Real Food Market serves up a mouth-watering selection of traditional and non-traditional festive bites, street food, ingredients and gifts! As well as offering a fantastic array of sustainably and ethically produced fine foods, there will be stalls full of seasonal goods – think mince pies and mulled wine galore! Pick up gifts such as charcuterie, cheese, traditional sweets and craft beer to wrap up for those food loving family members and tuck into some delicious ready-to-eat treats while you shop. At this market food rightly takes centre stage as we all gather round a table together during this time of festive feasting!
